International researchers still cannot agree on accurate testing procedures for identifying APD, or whether APD exists as a valid diagnosis.

Research tells us that children who are diagnosed by an Audiologist as having true difficulty hearing in background noise may benefit from a classroom amplification system.  It also tells us that the way the brain processes incoming sound is only one aspect of listening, and that cognitive ability, memory, attention ,and language comprehension skills are also related to a person's listening ability.

So, we get on with testing and treating these wider listening skills.
